Hopping Around the World Blog Hop - Flowers

Hi Crafters,

I'm back for another Hopping Around the World Blog Hop.  We are an international group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who share inspiration on the last weekend of every month.  This month our theme is Flowers.  Be prepared to feel the flower power as you hop along with us and if you've come from Rebecca-Jo's blog, you are on the right track!

Just before my niece was born I had an overwhelming feeling that she would be a girl (nobody knew the gender) and her name would be a flower but I didn't know that both of those would come true!  Poppy was born in 2015 and she is the light of my life!  Anyway, the reason for my story is to introduce the Painted Poppies Suite.  I was absolutely delighted when I first saw this suite in the Stampin' Up! January-June 2020 Mini Catalogue.

I started by created the poppies using the Poppy Moments dies and some scraps of watercolour paper that had been used to dab up excess Melon Mambo Pigment Sprinkles.  I then cut the layers in Pumpkin Pie and Night of Navy for a contrasting look.  I added the leaves in Mossy Meadow to complete the bouquet.  The background was created using the Handwritten Background stamp which is stamped in Night of Navy ink.  I used the Stamparatus as this is a large stamp and I wanted a really good impression and stamping the image several times in the same place is really easy with the Stamparatus.  I haven't added a sentiment yet as I'm still undecided on the occasion but I think this would fit for multiple celebrations.

Okay, how about a bonus card?!  I had some leftover die cuts and I didn't want to add to my ever growing pile so I put this super simple card together using only die cuts - no stamping!

The card blank is made from Basic Black cardstock and then I adhered a Whisper White border die cut from the Delicate Lace dies.  I created the poppy using the Poppy Moments dies in Poppy Parade cardstock.  I added a layer of Wink of Stella glitter to the outline layer of the poppy.  The sentiment was cut three times from Whisper White cardstock and then once from Silver Foil and comes from the Well Written dies.

I hope you are enjoying your hopping journey featuring our flower makes.  To keep hopping, head to Jennifer's brilliant creation next.  If you get lost there is a full list of the blog hop participants below.

Flutter and Fly with Stampin' Up!

Hi Crafters,

I'm back with another post for today to enter the Global Design Project theme challenge (#231).  The theme is Flutter and Fly so of course I had to get out some butterflies and have a play.

I used the Butterfly Gala bundle for my butterflies which were simply stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the co-ordinating punch.  My card blank is also made from Whisper White cardstock and I've embossed the front using the Parisian 3D embossing folder.  The 3D embossing folders give so much texture but it's important to spritz your cardstock before running through your die cutting machine as this loosens the fibers and prevents cracking.  I added a subtle hint of Melon Mambo to the background to tie the card together.

The sentiment comes from the So Sentimental stamp set (cling) and is stamped in Melon Mambo.  I also added some inking around the sentiment leaving a halo of white space to make the sentiment pop.  I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the sentiment panel.  The So Sentimental stamp set also comes as part of a bundle with 10 nesting dies and a 10% saving.  These co-ordinating dies would also work well for this design.

I would like to enter this card into the Global Design Project #231 - Theme Challenge of Flutter and Fly.

I've listed the products used below and if you have any questions, please drop me an email.  There is still time to grab freebies during Sale-A-Bration for each £45 spend.  Don't miss out on this amazing offer which finishes on 31 March 2020.

Happy crafting,

We Fall In... Colours - March 2020 Blog Hop

Hi Crafters,

I have a very exciting post today.  I've been invited to join a colour challenge blog hop and I'm so excited!  The We Fall In...Colours team are an international group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who share their creative makes following a colour theme each month.  If you've come from Samira's awesome make you're on the right track.

The colour challenge for this month is Granny Apple Green, Blueberry Bushel and Rococo Rose which are some of my favourites.

This colour palette lends itself to floral projects but I wanted to push myself so I've made a home decor project using ink blending through a mask.  I also put my Cricut electric cutting machine to work with some adhesive vinyl for the sentiment.

It was pretty hard to capture this project in a photograph due to either too much light or not enough.  I hope you can see how the sentiment sits on the glass raised above the inked image within the shadow box.

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 6.5" square.  I attached the mandala stencil from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks pack using low tack tape.  I applied the three inks - Granny Apple Green, Blueberry Bushel and Rococo Rose with Stampin' Sponges making sure to overlap the colours.  I trimmed the cardstock so that it would fit inside the shadow box and layered a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock behind for some added rigidity.

I took inspiration from the Crafting Forever stamp set for the sentiment and made my own version in Cricut Design Space.  I cut it out with silver adhesive vinyl which shows up much better in real life.

I hope you're feeling inspired hopping along with our projects.  To keep going, just click the next button below to head to Shelly's fabulous creation.

Happy crafting,
