Oh Happy Day!

Hi Crafters,

I'm back to showcase a cool technique that you can achieve with your Stampin' Write Markers.  The markers are water based and can be used for many techniques.  To create the background for my card, I simply scribbled on a glass mat using Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo markers.  Then I added water with the Stampin' Spritzer to allow the colours to move.  Then it's just a case of smooshing your paper into the colours!  I used Shimmery White cardstock for this card but it would also work great with Watercolour Paper.

I absolutely adore this butterfly die cut and it looks great in black against the subtle background.  My sentiment is from a returning stamp set called Thoughtful Banners which focuses on lots of great greetings.  Do you have a favourite sentiment that you go back to time after time?

Be sure to check back tomorrow for another project.

Happy crafting,

New Product Alert!

Hi Crafters,

If you haven't heard about the new embossing paste from Stampin' Up!, this post will reveal all!  I have longed for this product and Stampin' Up! delivered again.  Along with the new embossing paste, four new masks have been released.  Each pattern is very usable and has multiple uses.

I created a card blank from Powder Pink cardstock and then went about adding my paste to a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I masked a section for the sentiment and applied the paste with a plastic palette knife.  It's just a simple as spreading butter on a slice of bread!  The masks must be submerged in cold water as soon as you have finished applying your design.  If the paste hardens on the mask, the design will be compromised.

I inked my sentiment in Archival Black and stamped directly over the top of the embossing paste.  It worked a treat!  I used Stampin' Write Markers to colour the image in Powder Pink and Lemon Lime Twist.  I can't get enough of that colour!

Do let me know if you plan to have a go at embossing paste.  Did you know you can colour the paste with any of Stampin' Up! reinkers.  Perfectly co-ordinated paste to match any card.

Happy crafting,

New Best Friend!

Hi Crafters,

I have a different style of card today using the new Eclectic Layers thinlits which co-ordinates with the Oh So Eclectic stamp set.  The projects below feature in the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

The thinlits are slightly different to the normal dies offered by Stampin' Up! - some cut and some emboss.  This allows for extra texture and interest in any project.  My card blank is made from Whisper White cardstock and measures 4.25" x 6.25".  I used one of the new masks and inked through with Versamark and then heat embossed in clear powder.  I added a strip of the new Pick a Pattern washi tape and then started creating my die cuts.  The Eclectic Layers thinlits contains a die that creates a lovely geometric pattern left into the card but I used my paper snips to cut away the design and added the die cut as a border.  My sentiment was from the Lovely Words thinlits set and I cut three to layer up and give extra dimension.

I hope my card has inspired you to have a go at heat embossing - it is so much fun and takes no time at all.  Be sure to check back tomorrow for a new embossing technique.

Happy crafting,

Happy Birthday Gorgeous

Hi Crafters,

Today I'm featuring one of the new bundles from Stampin' Up! - Happy Birthday Gorgeous.  Bundles are a great way to pick up matching products and grab a saving too.  All Stampin' Up! bundles offer a 10% discount.

The stamp set features lots of great sentiments which can be used independently or paired with the Happy Birthday die cut to create an attractive focal point.  For my card below, I used one of the small flower stamps and the Happy Birthday die which I cut in Silver Glimmer Paper.  My frame was created from one of the stamps from Foxy Friends.

My finishing touch was to add a few vellum flowers from the Tree Builder punch and a White Pearl Accent on top.  They are quite hard to spot in the photograph.

Do you have any big birthdays coming up?  This bundle would be perfect to celebrate the occasion and with a 10% saving, it really is a must-have.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x
