Hopping Around The World Blog Hop - Sympathy Cards

Hi crafters,

Welcome to another blog hop and this time it's the turn of the Hopping Around the World team.  We hop on the last weekend of every month and showcase creativity from around the globe using Stampin' Up! products.  Our theme this month is Sympathy Cards.  If you've come from Rebecca-Jo's post you are on the right track.  There is a full list of participants at the end of this post.

I have created a very clean and simple (CAS) design, with a monochromatic colour scheme, for the theme of sympathy.

I started by using Thick Whisper White cardstock to create a card blank.  I stamped the floral image from Beautiful Friendship using a sponge dauber and Smoky Slate ink.  I stamped the sentiment from the Touched My Heart host stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I used the Stamparatus to position my stamps as it is even more important with a CAS design to have the images aligned correctly.

To keep hopping, head to Mo's post next.  I hope our blog hop has given you some inspiration for what is always a difficult project to create.

Crafty hugs, Rachel x

Festive Sunday Inspiration Week 11 - Joy To The World in Gold and White

Hi crafters,

It's time for the next installment in my Festive Sunday Inspiration series.  You can still catch up on the previous posts, take a look back at the first post.  I will be bringing you a post every Sunday until 29 November featuring festive projects to spark your creativity.  Projects will feature Stampin' Up! products from the August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue and the Annual Catalogue, using a variety of techniques.  If you would like to purchase any of the products for yourself, please visit my online shop which is open 24/7.

Today's card is one of my favourites from this festive series.  I actually made this one way back in the summer and yes, I had the Christmas music blasting then too!

I started with a Thick Whisper White card base and added a panel of Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Winter Snow Embossing Folder.  I cut a square of Gold Foil Sheet using the Stitched Shapes Dies and then added texture with the snowflake debossing dies in the Snow Time Dies.  I cut a Whisper White snowflake and a Vellum snowflake using the So Many Snowflakes Dies and offset on top of the gold foil topper to create dimension.  I used the Joy Dies and cut from several layers of Whisper White cardstock and then added a layer of Gold Foil Sheet to finish.  The sub sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in white onto vellum.  I popped this up using very small pieces of Stampin' Dimensionals.

Why not tell me something that brings you joy in the comments.  My craft room definitely gives me so much joy and it's better when I'm in there with a hot chocolate!

Happy crafting, Rachel x

Freshly Made Sketches 457 Entry - Sparkle Snowflakes

Hi crafters,

I have an entry for the latest Freshly Made Sketches Challenge (457).  I love seeing what the design team have created for each sketch - they have so much talent.

This sketch could be used for any occasion and I went for a sparkly snowflake theme using the Snowflake Wishes stamp set and the So Many Snowflakes dies from Stampin' Up!'s Snowflake Splendor Suite.

I created a card blank from half a sheet of Thick Whisper White A4 cardstock and then placed a piece of the Playing With Patterns DSP straight on top as my first layer.  The centre panel was created using Shimmery White Embossing Paste mixed with a little Gorgeous Grape ink.  I applied the paste through one of the Decorative Masks onto Whisper White cardstock and smoothed out with a palette knife.  Once this had completely dried, which took about 30 minutes, I added fun foam on the back to give even dimension.  I stamped the sentiment from the Snowflake Wishes stamp set in Bermuda Bay ink and then cut this down with my mini guillotine.  The snowflakes were cut from Balmy Blue Glitter cardstock but they didn't match my project so I used a Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blend and recoloured them, adhering with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

I would like to enter this card into the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge 457.

Happy crafting, Rachel x

Festive Sunday Inspiration Week 10 - Merry and Bright Mini Paper Pumpkin Box

Hi crafters,

Today is the next installment in my Festive Sunday Inspiration series.  There is still time to catch up though by taking a look back at the first post.

I have gone 3D for this next project and used the Mini Paper Pumpkin boxes.  I've also paired the Poinsettia Petals bundle with my favourite bundle from the Autumn-December Mini Catalogue which is the Joy & Peace bundle.  The Designer Series Paper ties everything together and adds another festive element.

I wrapped a piece of the Heartwarming Hugs DSP around a mini Paper Pumpkin box and secured with Tear and Tape.  I stamped the poinsettia images from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set in Versamark ink onto Real Red cardstock and then heat embossed in gold.  I added some Champagne Rhinestones to the centre.  The sentiment was created using the Peace & Joy bundle.  I stamped the Bright in Real Red onto Very Vanilla cardstock and then used the co-ordinating dies to cut this out.  I stamped the remainder of the sentiment in Pear Pizzazz and then cut around the words using my mini guillotine trimmer.  I popped these up using small pieces of Foam Strips.  I was really tempted to add a gnome peaking out from behind the flower but he'll have to wait for another day!

I hope you're enjoying these projects.  Until next time...

Happy crafting,

Rachel x
