Hopping Around The World Blog Hop - Sympathy Cards

Hi crafters,

Welcome to another blog hop and this time it's the turn of the Hopping Around the World team.  We hop on the last weekend of every month and showcase creativity from around the globe using Stampin' Up! products.  Our theme this month is Sympathy Cards.  If you've come from Rebecca-Jo's post you are on the right track.  There is a full list of participants at the end of this post.

I have created a very clean and simple (CAS) design, with a monochromatic colour scheme, for the theme of sympathy.

I started by using Thick Whisper White cardstock to create a card blank.  I stamped the floral image from Beautiful Friendship using a sponge dauber and Smoky Slate ink.  I stamped the sentiment from the Touched My Heart host stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I used the Stamparatus to position my stamps as it is even more important with a CAS design to have the images aligned correctly.

To keep hopping, head to Mo's post next.  I hope our blog hop has given you some inspiration for what is always a difficult project to create.

Crafty hugs, Rachel x

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Foil and Glimmer

Hi Crafters,

This is the last Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop of 2019 and our theme is Foil and Glimmer.  Oh the possibilities!  Keep hopping with us for international inspiration featuring Stampin' Up! products.  I love anything sparkly or shiny so this theme was a real treat!

I've made two cards, one featuring Stampin' Up!'s Silver Glimmer Paper and the other showcases our Gold Foil Sheets.  The cards have been made with the same layout and techniques but they look pretty different!

For the card above I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and placed tape along all four sides to create a frame.  I added colour to the centre area with Flirty Flamingo and Smoky Slate inks, blending in the middle.  I removed the tape and stamped my sentiment which is from the So Many Stars stamp set in Silver Delicata metallic ink.  It shows up much better in real life.  I adhered a star flourish die cut in Silver Glimmer Paper and then mounted the panel onto a Smoky Slate card base with liquid glue.

My second card is a little more stepped up with an embossing folder and some gold pearl embellishments.  I used the same technique with the tape and Daffodil Delight and Old Olive inks.  I embossed the panel using the Country Floral 3D embossing folder.  I used gold foil sheet for the die cut sentiment and stacked this on top of three plain Whisper White die cuts for added dimension.  To finish I adhered three groups of gold pearls in a triangular formation to draw the eye around the sentiment.

I hope our hop is making you feel sparkly and to keep hopping just click arrow button below to head to Amanda's wonderful creation.  Thanks so much for hopping along with us throughout 2019 and if you're new, we have lots more inspiration in store in 2020.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x

Incredible Like You Card from Stampin' Up!

Hi Crafters,

I'm back with a card featuring some new products from the Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer 2019 Catalogue.  I received this stamp set for free during OnStage in Orlando.  It's a great set, featuring floral images and superb sentiments, called Incredible Like You.

Not only is the stamp set super versatile but it also co-ordinates with the Incredible Like You Project Kit.  The kit makes 16 cards - 4 cards of 4 designs.   This kit also comes in a brilliant storage box so you'll be ready for all kinds of occasions throughout the year.

I took inspiration from the Incredible Like You Project Kit and created a card based on the bottom right design in the picture above.

I made a Whisper White card base and then layered up a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock on top.  I created my focal image by stamping the flowers and line stamp in Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate.  I added vellum sprigs from the Sprig Punch and attached those to the back of an Everyday Label shape cut in Bermuda Bay.  I stamped my sentiment in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White and then offset for interest.

Don't forget that Sale-A-Bration is still in full swing!  You can earn free prodcuts for every £45 you spend.  Click the link in the right-hand sidebar to view the amazing products on offer.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x

Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! Catalogue 2017 - A Christmas Wish for You

Hi Crafters,

Have you requested your free copy of the new Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! Catalogue yet?  If not, you've still got time.  Simply send me an email with your name and address and I'll send one out directly to you.

Today's project features inking techniques that I've not tried for a while and the use of negative die cuts.  You can achieve a really unique look using the negative left behind after die cutting.

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and created a mask using the tree die from the Christmas Staircase Thinlits Dies.  I placed this over another piece of Whisper White cardstock and traced a faint outline in pencil.  I used the sticky section of a Post-it note to create a moon with the 3/4" Circle Punch and positioned it into place.  I used the small star image from the Hearts Come Home stamp set and added my stars in white embossing powder.

Next I inked inside the negative tree die cut with Night of Navy ink using a Sponge Dauber.  I inked the sleigh image from the Hearts Come Home stamp set in Versamark and used silver embossing powder to create a contrast.  I added the houses using more Night of Navy ink and the negative die cut from the Hometown Greetings Edgelits Dies.  To finish, I inked up the sentiment from Best Gifts in Smoky Slate and then drew a wiggly border around the card to frame the main image.

Do let me know if you try any negative die cut inking soon.  It's always fun to try new things.  If you would like to be entered into the blog candy giveaway to celebrate the launch of the new Autumn/Winter Catalogue, just leave a comment on each of the launch posts during the first week of September and become a follower.  You have until 7 p.m. on Saturday 9 September 2017 to complete your entries.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x
