Magical Mermaid by Stampin' Up!

Hi Crafters,

I'm joining in the Global Design Project Challenge this week and the theme is Take Me to the Sea.  This is a perfect challenge for someone surrounded by the sea and I love nothing more than watching the waves.

I immediately thought of mermaids and knew the perfect stamp set to get creating - Magical Mermaid.

The base for my card was made using Whisper White cardstock and was measured to fit into a medium Stampin' Up! envelope.  I created a panel for the card by smooshing three ink pads (Petal Pink, Coastal Cabana and Shaded Spruce) onto a large rectangle acrylic block and then spritzed with water.  I placed Shimmery White cardstock on top to pick up the ink and then let it dry naturally.  As soon as I saw how the colours had blended it reminded me of an aerial photo of a tropical beach.

I stamped the mermaid in Coastal Cabana and then added Wink of Stella to the end of her tail.  I coloured her skin with Petal Pink ink using an Aqua Painter.  To add interest to the card base, I stamped the dots in Coastal Cabana and then finished off with the sentiment which was layered using the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies.  I coloured the top half of sentiment masking the remainder so that I could stamp that on the inside of the card.  I used Coastal Cabana and Shaded Spruce ink pads to create an ombre effect.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Best Birds by Stampin' Up! for Christmas

Hi Crafters,

I'm getting into the festive spirit with supplies from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.  My pre-order for the Autumn/Winter Catalogue arrived yesterday so before I delve into those goodies, I'm sharing my first Christmas make for this year.  I used the Best Birds stamp set and the Seasonal Wreath Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

The Best Birds stamp set has been around for a couple of catalogues but this is the first time I've inked it up.  The co-ordinating dies are a great buy to add extra detail to the birds and save those fussy cutting mistakes!

I created a card blank from a half sheet of A4 Whisper White cardstock.  I cut another piece of Whisper White cardstock and ran this though the Big Shot with the Seasonal Wreath Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, remembering to spritz first to create that deep emboss.  I added three Real Red Rhinestones and then stamped my sentiment from the Nature Sings stamp set, also in Real Red.  To create the robin, I stamped in third generation Sahara Sand and then used my Aqua Painters to pick up colour from the lids of three ink pads - Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie and Sahara Sand to colour the image on Shimmery White cardstock.  I attached the robin with Stampin' Dimensionals for added depth.

Don't forget that during August you can earn Bonus Days vouchers for every £45 you spend.  This means money off in September, just in time for the amazing new Autumn/Winter Catalogue.  If you would like a catalogue, please just let me know by sending an email with your name and postal address.  The catalogues will be dispatched on 28 August to give you plenty of time to browse.

Happy crafting,

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Drinks Galore

Hi Crafters,

The Global Stamping Friends are back with another great blog hop.  This month we are celebrating all things liquid and refreshing with a Drinks Galore hop!

I chose to showcase two stamp sets featuring yummy drinks!  The first set was used to create the background and features the lemonade image from A Good Day.  I combined this set with Coffee Cafe to create the topper image.  The sentiment came from A Good Day too.

I created a card blank in Daffodil Delight.  I heat embossed the lemonade image in white on Shimmery White cardstock and then used my Aqua Painter to give a wash over the whole background in Daffodil Delight.  I added the borders from the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch in Coastal Cabana and adhered these with Tear and Tape which is super strong.  I stamped and fussy cut the ice cubes but used a Framelits die for the straw and vellum glass.  I stamped the sentiment in Daffodil Delight and punched out using a 1 3/8" scalloped circle punch.

Thanks so much for stopping by on your hop around.  To keep hopping, head over to Marieke's blog using the clickable image below for more inspiration.
