We Fall in... Colours Blog Hop - October 2020

Hi crafters,

It's the turn of the We Fall In... Colours team to share our passion for creativity through colour in our monthly blog hop.  If you've hopped from Belinda's great post, you are on the right track.  There is a full list of participants at the end of this post.

This month's colours are Real Red, Crushed Curry and Blackberry Bliss.  I broke out a new stamp set and used Today's Tiles.  This stamp set is featured in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.  I wasn't sure about it at first but after having a little play, I'm totally in love!  I can't wait to make more projects with this versatile stamp set.  There are also co-ordinating dies available but I haven't used them for this project.

I created a card base from Thick Whisper White cardstock and then used a panel of Whisper White cardstock to stamp the main image from the Today's Tiles stamp set.  I applied the three inks - Real Red, Crushed Curry and Blackberry Bliss using sponge daubers.  The Stamparatus is a must have tool for two-step stamping.  I used the Stitched Rectangles Dies to cut out the panel and the sentiment.  The greeting was stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink.  I've created a clean and simple design to allow the tiles to really pop.

I hope you have been enjoying our colours for this month's blog hop.  To keep hopping, click the next button below to head to Sigrid's wonderful post.

Faux Engraving with Stampin' Up!

Hi Crafters,

I have a new technique for you today that I'm really excited to share.  If you spotted the gold deer in my Global Stamping Friends Plaid Blog Hop, you will have already had a sneak peek!  The technique is faux engraving and I discovered it watching a video by Jennifer McGuire.  I adore all of Jennifer's videos and her creativity is so inspiring.

To create the faux engraving all you need is foil cardstock, an outline image, Versamark ink, clear embossing powder and a heat tool.  It's also really important to prep the cardstock with an anti-static powder to prevent the embossing powder from sticking anywhere other than your stamped image.

I started with a notecard and embossed the front leaf using the Tin Tile 3D embossing folder.  I added a piece of real red cardstock to the middle with liquid multipurpose glue.  My tree image came from the Shine Bright stamp set featured in the Stampin' Up! Autumn/Winter catalogue.  I stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossing using clear embossing powder.  I added some Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The white layer under my gold topper was stamped with a sentiment from the Shine Bright stamp set in Real Red.  I used my Stamparatus for perfect positioning.  I'm not sure how I ever managed to stamp anything in the right place before the Stamparatus came along!

I hope you'll give this cool technique a try.  Let me know what you think and what image you'll be using.

Happy crafting,

New Stampin' Up! Autumn/Winter Catalogue

Hi Crafters,

The Stampin' Up! Autumn/Winter Catalogues has launched.  This catalogue has everything you need to get creative for the festive season and beyond.  Maybe Halloween is your thing - well we have an amazing suite of products just for you too.  Stay tuned for some spooky inspiration coming up.

Firstly, I'm kicking off with a Dancing Deer card and showcasing the new Shimmer Paint.  It is seriously lush!

I started by creating a card blank in Crumb Cake cardstock as my base.  I ran a piece of Basic Black cardstock through the Big Shot using the new Swirls and Curls Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and then picked up a little Bright Copper Shimmer Paint on my index finger and gently ran that over the embossed card.  I cut it into three and then adhered with Liquid Multipurpose Glue to a piece of Real Red cardstock.  I cut the reindeer from Crumb Cake cardstock using the new Detailed Deer Thinlits Dies and added a red rhinestone to his nose.  I die cut the word Merry from the new Merry Christmas to All bundle in copper foil and then stamped Christmas in Real Red onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals on the reindeer and the stamped part of the sentiment.

Autumn/Winter catalogue, you can request one by simply emailing me with your name and postal address.  If you can't wait to see all the new goodies, click the link in the right-hand sidebar to view the electronic version.  I would be delighted to hear your favourites.

Best Birds by Stampin' Up! for Christmas

Hi Crafters,

I'm getting into the festive spirit with supplies from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.  My pre-order for the Autumn/Winter Catalogue arrived yesterday so before I delve into those goodies, I'm sharing my first Christmas make for this year.  I used the Best Birds stamp set and the Seasonal Wreath Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

The Best Birds stamp set has been around for a couple of catalogues but this is the first time I've inked it up.  The co-ordinating dies are a great buy to add extra detail to the birds and save those fussy cutting mistakes!

I created a card blank from a half sheet of A4 Whisper White cardstock.  I cut another piece of Whisper White cardstock and ran this though the Big Shot with the Seasonal Wreath Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, remembering to spritz first to create that deep emboss.  I added three Real Red Rhinestones and then stamped my sentiment from the Nature Sings stamp set, also in Real Red.  To create the robin, I stamped in third generation Sahara Sand and then used my Aqua Painters to pick up colour from the lids of three ink pads - Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie and Sahara Sand to colour the image on Shimmery White cardstock.  I attached the robin with Stampin' Dimensionals for added depth.

Don't forget that during August you can earn Bonus Days vouchers for every £45 you spend.  This means money off in September, just in time for the amazing new Autumn/Winter Catalogue.  If you would like a catalogue, please just let me know by sending an email with your name and postal address.  The catalogues will be dispatched on 28 August to give you plenty of time to browse.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x
