The Warmth of Christmas

Hi Crafters,

I hope you are all well and finding time to craft.  I haven't been able to spend as much time in the craft room as I would like but I rectified that this morning and made a card especially for the latest challenge at the Global Design Project.  This week's theme is a colour challenge.

This was a bit of a conundrum for me and then inspiration struck when I pulled out the Smitten Mittens bundle!

I layered up Old Olive and Basic Black cardstock to create the base for my card.  The gold snowflakes have been heat embossed using Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and I used my stamping positioner to achieve the frame design.  My topper was made from the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper and I added strips of gold washi tape to create a tartan effect.  I stamped and fussy cut the mittens before running through the Cable Knit 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and then added a gold snowflake and black ribbing to each.  The mittens are popped up on numerous Stampin' Dimensionals.  My sentiment is from the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set and was also heat embossed in gold.  I really enjoyed making this card and I hope it gives some inspiration.

Just For You - GDP106

Hi Crafters,

I'm back!  Although, I really should be studying!  I have created a card to enter the current challenge at the Global Design Project and this week's challenge features a sketch.  I always love seeing the variations that everyone creates using the same sketch.  It really gets my creative juices flowing!

I have created a card in a vintage style which is really outside my comfort zone but I wanted to challenge myself.  I have to confess that it was also a great excuse to use the Layered Leaves Textured Impressions Embossing Folder which is one of my favourites.

I started with one of the cards from the Memories and More Petal Garden Card Pack and heat embossed the geometric pattern stamp from Graceful Garden in gold in the top left and bottom right corners.  I ran the card through the Big Shot using the Layered Leaves TIEF to create some dimension and then roughed up the edges with a tool from Tim Holtz specially designed for the job.  I inked the edges of the card with Crumb Cake ink to give a more distressed look.  I added a piece of the Fresh Florals DSP in Powder Pink and added more ink to these egdes, once they had been roughed up.  Next, I topped the DSP with a piece of burlap ribbon.

My sentiment is stamped from the Watercolor Words stamp set and it's actually the first time I've inked it up since adding it to my collection last year.  I added some highlights using the White Stampin' Chalk Marker.  I layered the sentiment using the Layering Circle Framelits dies and added a piece of Gold Foil Sheet to give some shine.  To finish off, I added some sequins.

Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! 2017 Catalogue Launch - Ready to Make Chirstmas

Hi Crafters,

I hope you are enjoying the launch so far.  Don't forget to request your free copy of the new catalogue by sending me an email with your name and address.  I have used three new sets for today's project and it features a sausage dog!  I squealed when I saw this stamp set for the first time!  I would love a sausage dog of my own.

 Ready for Christmas bundle
Christmas in the Making

Wishes All Aglow

I actually only used one small stamp from the third stamp set, Wishes All Aglow, but it created the perfect filler for my background.

Warning - there was a lot of fussy cutting involved in this card!   I stamped the lady from Christmas in the Making onto Whisper White cardstock in Archival Basic Black ink.  In order to create the patterned dress, I stamped again onto one of the sheets from the Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper and fussy cut out the image.  I stamped the sash onto Real Red cardstock and then cut this out too.  I finished by colouring the non paper-pieced parts with Stampin' Write Markers in Crumb Cake (skin), Chocolate Chip (hair), Basic Black (shoes), Real Red and Garden Green (bauble).  The Crumb Cake colouring is really difficult to see in the photograph.

I inked up the tree image from the Ready for Christmas stamp set in Garden Green and stamped off the page.  I added a star for the top of the tree in Crushed Curry cardstock.  The little sausage dog does come with a matching die but it leaves a small border of white cardstock around the image and I ended up fussy cutting this too.  I coloured the sausage dog with Stampin' Write Markers in Crumb Cake, Real Red and Garden Green and raised him up on Dimensionals.

I hope you have been enjoying the launch to far.  Don't forget to leave a comment to be entered into the blog candy giveaway.  There's still time to leave comments on all the launch posts too.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x
