Just For You - GDP106

Hi Crafters,

I'm back!  Although, I really should be studying!  I have created a card to enter the current challenge at the Global Design Project and this week's challenge features a sketch.  I always love seeing the variations that everyone creates using the same sketch.  It really gets my creative juices flowing!

I have created a card in a vintage style which is really outside my comfort zone but I wanted to challenge myself.  I have to confess that it was also a great excuse to use the Layered Leaves Textured Impressions Embossing Folder which is one of my favourites.

I started with one of the cards from the Memories and More Petal Garden Card Pack and heat embossed the geometric pattern stamp from Graceful Garden in gold in the top left and bottom right corners.  I ran the card through the Big Shot using the Layered Leaves TIEF to create some dimension and then roughed up the edges with a tool from Tim Holtz specially designed for the job.  I inked the edges of the card with Crumb Cake ink to give a more distressed look.  I added a piece of the Fresh Florals DSP in Powder Pink and added more ink to these egdes, once they had been roughed up.  Next, I topped the DSP with a piece of burlap ribbon.

My sentiment is stamped from the Watercolor Words stamp set and it's actually the first time I've inked it up since adding it to my collection last year.  I added some highlights using the White Stampin' Chalk Marker.  I layered the sentiment using the Layering Circle Framelits dies and added a piece of Gold Foil Sheet to give some shine.  To finish off, I added some sequins.

Happy Birthday Graceful Garden

Hi Crafters,

I hope you are enjoying your summer and making the most of the good weather.  Although, a couple of rainy days would be good to spend in the craft room!  Today's card is inspired by the current challenge at the Global Design Project who have a colour theme this week.

I must admit that the only Wild Wasabi product I own is a marker.  This made the challenge a little more fun to think outside the box.  I had quite a few variations until I chose the Graceful Garden stamp set.  I created a custom Berry Burst card blank and attached a piece of Shimmery White cardstock on top.  I ran a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock though the Big Shot with the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I brought the two layers together with a length of the Berry Burst finely woven ribbon which is super soft.

I stamped the main rose image from the Graceful Garden stamp set onto a piece of Shimmery White cardstock.  The image was coloured with the Berry Burst and Wild Wasabi markers so that I could achieve a no line watercolour effect.  This might need some more practice!  I used the Happy Birthday die to cut the centre of the rose image and then paper pieced the parts back together.  This was really easy using the new Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets.  I cut four additional sentiments and layered on top, finally adding my coloured image to complete the full design.  I went with a jaunty angle for added interest and finished with a few pearls.
