Just For You - GDP106

Hi Crafters,

I'm back!  Although, I really should be studying!  I have created a card to enter the current challenge at the Global Design Project and this week's challenge features a sketch.  I always love seeing the variations that everyone creates using the same sketch.  It really gets my creative juices flowing!

I have created a card in a vintage style which is really outside my comfort zone but I wanted to challenge myself.  I have to confess that it was also a great excuse to use the Layered Leaves Textured Impressions Embossing Folder which is one of my favourites.

I started with one of the cards from the Memories and More Petal Garden Card Pack and heat embossed the geometric pattern stamp from Graceful Garden in gold in the top left and bottom right corners.  I ran the card through the Big Shot using the Layered Leaves TIEF to create some dimension and then roughed up the edges with a tool from Tim Holtz specially designed for the job.  I inked the edges of the card with Crumb Cake ink to give a more distressed look.  I added a piece of the Fresh Florals DSP in Powder Pink and added more ink to these egdes, once they had been roughed up.  Next, I topped the DSP with a piece of burlap ribbon.

My sentiment is stamped from the Watercolor Words stamp set and it's actually the first time I've inked it up since adding it to my collection last year.  I added some highlights using the White Stampin' Chalk Marker.  I layered the sentiment using the Layering Circle Framelits dies and added a piece of Gold Foil Sheet to give some shine.  To finish off, I added some sequins.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenge:

Swirly Bird Hello

Hi Crafters,

One of the greatest perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is our monthly team meetings.  Originally called Team Training, these have recently been renamed as Cake and Craft!  That sums up what we do perfectly!  Rhoda's caramel cupcakes are divine and always bring a crowd!

Today's card uses one of my all time favourite stamp sets and co-ordinating dies - Swirly Bird and Swirly Scribbles.  This stamp set has so many uses and I've only just scratched the surface.

This card features two types of embossing - dry embossing and heat embossing.  I love to add dimension to my cards and embossing is a great way to achieve this easily.  I started with a custom card blank in Flirty Flamingo.  I used the Sparkle embossing folder on Whisper White cardstock for my base layer.  I inked a scrap of the new Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper which features the new In-Colors for 2017-19.  They are seriously lush!  I cut the largest Flirty Flamingo circle using a punch and fussy cut the remainder by hand.  The Swirly Scribbles dies feature in Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and I've stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Pop of Paradise stamp set which also features a great flamingo image.

I would love to know your favourite stamp set in the new Annual Catalogue.  If you haven't received a catalogue yet, you can still request one by sending me a message.  You can view a digital copy of the catalogue by clicking the cover image in the right sidebar.  Have fun!

Happy crafting,
Rachel x
