Have you requested your free copy of the new Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! Catalogue yet? If not, you've still got time. Simply send me an email with your name and address and I'll send one out directly to you.
Today's project features inking techniques that I've not tried for a while and the use of negative die cuts. You can achieve a really unique look using the negative left behind after die cutting.
I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and created a mask using the tree die from the Christmas Staircase Thinlits Dies. I placed this over another piece of Whisper White cardstock and traced a faint outline in pencil. I used the sticky section of a Post-it note to create a moon with the 3/4" Circle Punch and positioned it into place. I used the small star image from the Hearts Come Home stamp set and added my stars in white embossing powder.
Next I inked inside the negative tree die cut with Night of Navy ink using a Sponge Dauber. I inked the sleigh image from the Hearts Come Home stamp set in Versamark and used silver embossing powder to create a contrast. I added the houses using more Night of Navy ink and the negative die cut from the Hometown Greetings Edgelits Dies. To finish, I inked up the sentiment from Best Gifts in Smoky Slate and then drew a wiggly border around the card to frame the main image.
Do let me know if you try any negative die cut inking soon. It's always fun to try new things.
