Hopping Around the World Blog Hop - Christmas Cards

Hi Crafters,

Welcome to the first Blog Hop from the Hopping Around the World team.  We are a small group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who will be hopping on the last Saturday of each month.  Make sure to check back each month for more inspiration and project ideas.  If you've arrived here from Rebecca-Jo's post, then you're on the right track!

Our first theme is Christmas cards and I LOVE Christmas!  I started making my Christmas cards back in August and I'm still going strong!  I'm sharing a trio of cards featuring the Tidings All Around Bundle from the Stampin' Up! Autumn/Winter Catalogue.  I have used the same layout for each card but the wreaths are all different.

The first wreath is made from Whisper White cardstock cut using the wreath from the All Around Wreath Dies.  I kept the cardstock in the die and inked through the die with Garden Green ink using a sponge dauber.  I layered up two inked wreaths for dimension and texture.

The second wreath features two layers again but this time I've die cut Garden Green cardstock for the bottom layer and placed a vellum wreath on top.  I used very small amounts of Liquid Multipurpose Glue to avoid the glue being seen.  I wipe away excess glue with my finger.  A few Real Red Rhinestones would add a touch of sparkle to this design.

The final wreath was made from Silver Glimmer Paper and the leaves were coloured with the bullet nib of the Dark Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blend.  The bullet nib of the Stampin' Blends are great for colouring onto textured surfaces.  Please do not use the brush nib as this is too soft and will become damaged.

The card bases were all made from Whisper White cardstock and then I added a Whisper White Stitched Rectangle die cut underneath each wreath.  I stamped in the co-ordinating green using a sentiment from the Tidings All Around Stamp Set.  I used my Stamparatus for positioning which made it really easy to make multiples of the same design.

I hope you are enjoying our first ever Blog Hop from the Hopping Around the World stampers.  To keep hopping, head to Jennifer's post.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x

World Cardmaking Day with Stampin' Up!

Hi Crafters,

Happy World Cardmaking Day!  I hope you are getting some time to craft today.  I have a special Christmas card to share with you.  I created a galaxy resist background using the So Many Stars photopolymer stamp set and white heat embossing.

I stamped my star images in Versamark ink and then heat embossed in white.  I added Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo splodges and then covered with Night of Navy using an Aqua Painter for each colour.  The Night of Navy wasn't dark enough so I took the Stampin' Pad directly to the Watercolour Paper and swept in from the edges.  There was excess ink on my glass mat so I used a Stampin' Spritzer and added water and then smooshed the background into the ink.  When I turned over the card, I had a ta-dah moment!  It worked!

I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut three pieces for the background and added a few extra Silver Glimmer stars left over from the star flourish die behind the sentiment.  I stamped my sentiment in Night of Navy and used the second largest star die popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

What project will you be creating for World Cardmaking Day?  Why not try a sketch challenge or a colour challenge?  Maybe you're an avid crafter who likes lots of layers, why not try a simple stamping card.  I hope you have fun creating.

Happy crafting,
Rachel x

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop - Treat Holders

Hi Crafters,

It's my favourite Friday of the month and that can mean only one thing!  It's time for another Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop.  You'll find inspiration from Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the world so I hope you'll hop along.  Our theme this month is Treat Holders - perfectly timed for Halloween and Christmas!

I chose to use Stampin' Up!'s Kraft Pillow Boxes which come pre-made.  All you have to do is fold down the flaps and you are ready to decorate.  A great shortcut if you are looking for a quick make.  I made three different treat holders featuring similar products in the same colour scheme of Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White and kraft.

The tree treat holder was made using the Pine Tree punch in Silver Glimmer Paper which I coloured with my Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blend.  I used the bullet tip as the texture of the Glimmer Paper would destroy the brush nib.  I added a Whisper White flourish of stars from the Stitched Stars Dies behind the tree.  The ribbon on all three treat holders is the Cherry Cobbler Striped Diagonal Ribbon which is great for packaging and more.

The centre treat holder features the Cup of Christmas Bundle.  I cut the cup and candy cane from Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White cardstock, adhering with Liquid Multipurpose Glue and Tear & Tape Adhesive.  I added a stamped sentiment to the tag die from that bundle for each of the treat holders.

The final treat holder is a very quick and simple design using the Stitched Stars Dies and the tag dies from the Cup of Christmas Bundle.  I stamped in Cherry Cobbler for all three treat holders.

I hope you'll find lots of inspiration from our blog hop this month.  Don't forget to come back next month for another installment of creativity.  To keep hopping, simply click on the next arrow below to head to Amanda's brilliant creation.

Happy Crafting,
