Festive Sunday Inspiration 3 - Snowflake Splendour Suite from Stampin' Up!

 Hi friends,

Today is the third installment in my Festive Sunday Inspiration series.  There is still time to catch the first and second posts though.  I will be bringing you a post every Sunday until 29 November featuring festive projects to spark your creativity.  Projects will feature Stampin' Up! products and a variety of techniques.  If you would like to purchase any of the products for yourself, please visit my online shop which is open 24/7.

After cutting up the gorgeous Designer Series Paper, I used the scraps the make this card, along with some Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper snowflakes and an Itty Bitty sentiment.  I have quite a few more cards made with the Snowflake Splendor Suite so stay tuned for them in the coming weeks.

I created a card base using Whisper White cardstock.  I adhered the strips of DSP to a panel of Whisper White cardstock, making sure they were offset.  I find it hard to do random!  I cut one of the Nesting Labels Dies from Whisper White cardstock and stamped a greeting from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set in Balmy Blue on top.  I added three die cut snowflakes from Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper and finished off with a Blue Adhesive-Backed Gem in the centre of each.  This is a simple card for mass producing at Christmas and could also be redesigned with non-Christmas items for any occasion.

Happy crafting,

Hopping Around the World Blog Hop - Up In the Air

Hi crafters,

Welcome to another blog hop and this time it is the turn of the Hopping Around the World team.  We hop on the last weekend of every month and showcase creativity from around the globe using Stampin' Up! products.  Our theme this month is Up in the Air which could be anything that flies or that you can see in the sky.  I can't wait to see everyone's posts.  If you've come from Claudia's wonderful post, you are on the right track.  There is a full list of participants at the end of this post.

I had so many ideas for this theme but the one that stood out was rainbows.  I also wanted to try making some clouds from a die cut.

I started with a regular half sheet of A4 Whisper White cardstock for my base care.  I cut the bumpy border die from the Happy Dies with a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock and then inked over a panel of Whisper White cardstock using Balmy Blue ink and a blending brush.  I moved the die cut down the panel and inked lighter and heavier in places for a more realistic look.  To create the rainbow I used the Layering Circle Dies and cardstocks in Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Just Jade.  I actually ended up with 8 rainbows so plenty left for future cards.  The sentiment comes from the Friend Like You stamp set and is inked in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I added some die cut hearts from the Stitched Be Mine Dies to tie the card together.  I also added a layer of Wink of Stella to the rainbow.

I hope you are enjoying this blog hop featuring up in the air projects.  To keep hopping, head to Mo's great post next.

Happy crafting,
Rachel

Global Design Project Entry - Leaves

 Hi crafters,

There is a new challenge over at the Global Design Project and this week the theme is leaves.  I have fallen head over heels for the Love of Leaves bundle so I know straight away that I wanted to use this for my entry.

The dies have intricate stitching detail which really makes an impact.  My card actually only features one of the stamped leaves in three different colours - Pumpkin Pie, Mossy Meadow and Cajun Craze.

I started by creating a card base from Mossy Meadow cardstock.  Next I took a panel of Whisper White cardstock and ran this though my die cutting machine twice with the large border stitching die to create the background.  I stamped the leaves in Mango Melody, Mossy Meadow and Cajun Craze and then die cut with the co-ordinating die.  I added the stitching die on top and ran through again.  I adhered the leaves across the centre of the white panel attached to my card base and then flicked some watered down Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint over the top.  I added the gold trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack behind the centre leaf to bring out the gold of the splatter.  Lastly, I heat embossed my sentiment in white onto Mossy Meadow cardstock.  The leaves are all popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I would like to enter this card into the Global Design Project #255 - Leaves

Festive Sunday Inspiration 2 - Gnome For The Holiday from Stampin' Up!

 Hi friends,

Today is the second installment in my Festive Sunday Inspiration series.  There is still time to catch the first post in the series though.  I will be bringing you a post every Sunday until 29 November featuring festive projects to spark your creativity.  Projects will feature Stampin' Up! products and a variety of techniques.  If you would like to purchase any of the products for yourself, please visit my online shop which is open 24/7.

I have chosen my favourite stamp set in the entire August to December 2020 Mini Catalogue for today's card.  These gnomes in the Gnome for the Holidays stamp set are just too cute!

My card appears fairly simple but it actually has three techniques.  I stared by making a card blank from Crumb Cake cardstock.  I cut a panel slightly smaller than the front of my card and then placed this inside the Stamparatus.  I took the Christmas Wishes stamp from the Banner Year stamp set and repeatedly stamped this in Crumb Cake ink using the removable plate of the Stamparatus for easy positioning.  I adhered the panel flat onto my card blank using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  The snowflake strip was created using the Winter Snow Embossing Folder.  I inked up the folder with Just Jade ink and ran a piece of Whisper White cardstock through my die cutting and embossing machine.  This transferred the ink to the background of the cardstock, leaving the snowflakes white.  I removed the piece of cardstock from the folder and then swiped ink in Pretty Peacock across the raised embossed snowflakes.  I love this technique for a striking background or patterned accent on a card.  I stamped the gnome image from the Gnome for the Holidays stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then coloured with Stampin' Blends in Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate, Ivory and Crumb Cake.  I fussy cut out the image with Paper Snips and then mounted onto a die cut oval from the Layering Ovals Dies, adding a frame with a larger oval die from the same set in Real Red cardstock.  I finished off with some Just Jade In Color 2020-2022 Enamel Dots.

I hope you liked this gnome take on a festive card with multiple techniques.  What's your favourite crafting technique?  Let me know in the comments below.

Happy crafting,

Rachel x
