Sharing Friendship's Sweetest Thoughts

Hi Crafters,

Today is a momentous day!  Not only has April arrived but I have cut into and used my Designer Series Paper (DSP)!  I have stacks of the stuff but I never want to cut it up and even when I do, I'm never sure how to incorporate it into my cards.  Confessions of a crafter!

I used a new stamp set from the Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer Catalogue called Friendship's Sweetest Thoughts which I was immediately drawn to when the catalogue first launched.

I love the delicacy of the images in this set and they can be used for so many occasions.  My sentiment actually came from a Sale-A-Bration stamp set (Eclectic Expressions) but you could easily use another.

I created a card blank from Crushed Curry cardstock and then used a slightly smaller piece run through the Layered Leaves 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for my first layer.  I added a panel of the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper which was lined with just a hint of the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch in Fresh Fig.  I layered my topper image using Pool Party cardstock.  As I knew I would be adding water to colour my image, I used Shimmery White cardstock for my focal element.  I stamped in Archival Basic Grey and let it dry for a couple of minutes before using my Aqua Painters to pick up the ink from the lid of the ink pads in Crushed Curry, Fresh Fig, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party.

I hope you like this card and don't be afraid to chop up your DSP!  Look out for more projects featuring gorgeous Stampin' Up! DSP soon!

Happy crafting,
Rachel x

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop 13 - Colour Challenge

Hi Crafters,

The international crafters from Global Stamping Friends are back with another blog hop to inspire you.  I hope you enjoyed our special anniversary blog hop - if you missed it you can still view my post and hop along.  It's a lot of fun taking part in blog hops and we really appreciate all your support.

This month we are bringing you colour inspiration using the following palette:

I was struggling to choose which idea to try out with this group of colours - so many options!  Finally I settled for one of my favourite sets from the Annual Catalogue called Colorful Seasons.  It really does take you through all seasons.

I was also inspired by the current challenge over at Global Design Project which features a sketch.

I've been channeling my festive side and have created a wintry card using the branch and snowflake images.

My main panel is simply stamped in Smoky Slate, Pool Party and Night of Navy and then I drew a string with the Smoky Slate Stampin' Write Marker to attach the snowflakes to the branches.  I added Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the centres of the snowflakes for some bling.  You can never have too much sparkle, especially at Christmas.  I stamped my greeting from the brand new Cheers to the Year stamp set from the new Autumn/Winter Catalogue in Smoky Slate and finished off with some Metallic Silver Thread.

Keep hopping to Ellen's blog using the next arrow below.  I can't wait to see what everyone has created.  I know everyone's ideas will be so different.

We would love you to leave a comment to let us know you've visited.  I hope you've been inspired by our colour challenge to get stamping.  You are certainly in for a treat with the new Autumn/Winter Stampin' Up! catalogue which launched today.  If you would like a catalogue sent out by post, simply drop me an email with your name and address and I'll send one out directly to you.

You Move Me for GDP093

Hi Crafters,

As soon as I saw the You Move Me set at OnStage in April, I gasped!  Brandi from Stampin' Up! home office demonstrated the magic when you pair the dies and stamps together.  Stampin' Up! also have a great video for the You Move Me bundle on their You Tube channel.  The mechanism works best when you move slowly!  I have a last minute entry for the Global Design Project #093 which is a colour challenge this month.

What a lovely combination for summer and I loved using these colours together with the You Move Me bundle.

I started with a card blank in Pool Party and then stamped my hummingbird on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I added a small piece of Berry Burst finely woven ribbon for the pull tab.  In order to preserve my embossing, I die cut the window die first and then ran the piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock back through using the Layered Leaved Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I created the Pool Party frame using the Layering Squares Thinlits.  My sentiment was created by stamping each word individually to change the positioning.  Now for a quick video!

This is such a cool concept and I can't wait to see what you think.  Please let me know in the comments.
